Selecting Multiple Cells for Formatting
- Contiguous Range: Click and drag your mouse across the cells you want to format.
- Non-Contiguous Cells: Hold down the Ctrl key (Command key on Mac) and click on each individual cell you wish to select.
- Entire Row/Column: Click on the row number or column letter.
- Entire Sheet: Click the triangle in the top-left corner between the row numbers and column letters (or press Ctrl+A).
Applying Formatting
- After selecting the cells, go to the Home tab on the ribbon.
- Use the commands in the Font, Alignment, or Number groups to apply your desired formatting (e.g., bold, font color, number format, borders).
- For more advanced options, right-click on the selected cells and choose Format Cells, or press Ctrl+1.
Using Format Painter
- Select a cell that already has the formatting you want to copy.
- Click the Format Painter icon (paintbrush) in the Home tab.
- Click and drag over the cells you want to apply the same formatting to.
- Pro Tip: Double-click the Format Painter icon to lock it on and apply the formatting to multiple, non-adjacent ranges. Press Esc to turn it off.
