Method 1: Using the Force Quit Menu

  1. Click the Apple menu in the top-left corner of your screen.
  2. Select Force Quit from the dropdown menu.
  3. Select the unresponsive application from the list.
  4. Click the Force Quit button.

Method 2: Using the Keyboard Shortcut

  1. Press Command + Option + Esc on your keyboard.
  2. This will open the Force Quit Applications window directly.
  3. Select the application you want to close and click Force Quit.

Method 3: Using Activity Monitor

  1. Open Activity Monitor from your Applications > Utilities folder.
  2. Find the unresponsive process in the list.
  3. Select it and click the Stop (X) button in the toolbar.
  4. Choose Force Quit from the confirmation dialog.

Method 4: Using the Dock

  1. Hold down the Option key on your keyboard.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) on the application’s icon in the Dock.
  3. Select Force Quit from the context menu that appears.

Note: Force quitting may result in unsaved work being lost. Use this method only when an application is completely unresponsive.
