  • Transportation: Blocks were transported from quarries to the construction site on wooden sleds. These sleds were pulled over paths that were likely lubricated with water to reduce friction, making it easier to move the heavy loads.
  • Ramps: A system of ramps, built from mudbrick, limestone chips, and earth, was the primary method for raising the blocks to higher levels as the pyramid grew. The exact configuration of these ramps (straight, zigzagging, or spiraling) is still a subject of research.
  • Precision: The incredible precision of the pyramid’s alignment and square base was achieved using simple but effective tools like plumb bobs, sighting rods, and leveling basins filled with water.
