Methods for Taking Screenshots on Windows
There are several ways to capture screenshots on Windows, depending on your needs:
- Print Screen (PrtScn) Key
- PrtScn: Captures the entire screen to clipboard.
- Alt + PrtScn: Captures only the active window to clipboard.
- Windows + PrtScn: Saves full screenshot as image file in Screenshots folder.
- Snipping Tool
- Search for “Snipping Tool” in Start Menu
- Choose from free-form, rectangular, window, or full-screen snips
- Annotate and save your screenshot
- Snip & Sketch (Windows 10/11)
- Press Windows + Shift + S
- Select area to capture
- Image copies to clipboard for editing/saving
- Game Bar (Windows 10/11)
- Press Windows + G
- Click camera icon or use Windows + Alt + PrtScn
- Saves screenshots to Captures folder
