Using the Built-in Screen Recording Feature
macOS includes a powerful screen recording tool accessible through keyboard shortcuts:
- Record the Entire Screen: Press Shift + Command + 5. Click the Record Entire Screen button, then click Record.
- Record a Selected Portion: Press Shift + Command + 5. Click the Record Selected Portion button, drag to select the area, then click Record.
- Stop Recording: Click the Stop button in the menu bar or press Command + Control + Esc.
The recording will be saved to your desktop by default.
Using QuickTime Player (Alternative Method)
- Open QuickTime Player from your Applications folder.
- Go to File > New Screen Recording.
- Click the red Record button. Click anywhere on the screen to record the entire screen, or drag to select a specific area.
- To stop, click the Stop button in the menu bar. Save your recording from the File menu.
