Expedited Passport Service
The standard passport processing time is 6-8 weeks. To get your passport faster, you must request expedited service.
Steps for Expedited Service
- Complete Application Form DS-11 (for first-time applicants) or Form DS-82 (for renewals)
- Pay the Expedited Fee in addition to regular application fees
- Mark “EXPEDITE” on the outside of your envelope
- Use Priority Mail Express for faster delivery to the passport agency
Processing Times
- Expedited Service: 2-3 weeks processing time
- Urgent Travel: Make an appointment at a passport agency if traveling within 14 days
- Life-or-Death Emergency: Contact the National Passport Information Center for immediate assistance
Required Documents
- Proof of U.S. citizenship
- Government-issued photo ID
- Passport photo
- Application fees
