Steps to Temporarily Deactivate Your Instagram Account
Deactivating your account will hide your profile, photos, comments, and likes until you reactivate it by logging back in.
- Log into your Instagram account via a web browser (you cannot deactivate from the mobile app).
- Click on your profile picture in the top right and select Profile.
- Click Edit Profile.
- Scroll down and click Temporarily disable my account at the bottom right.
- Select a reason from the dropdown menu.
- Re-enter your password.
- Click Temporarily Disable Account.
Important Notes
- You can only deactivate your account once per week.
- Your direct messages will remain visible to others.
- To permanently delete your account, you must submit a deletion request through Instagram’s help center.
