Boiling Time for Corn on the Cob

The ideal boiling time depends on whether the corn is fresh or frozen:

  • Fresh Corn: Boil for 5-7 minutes after the water returns to a boil.
  • Frozen Corn: Boil for 7-10 minutes after the water returns to a boil.

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil.
  2. Add shucked corn ears to the boiling water.
  3. Cover the pot and return to a boil.
  4. Cook for the recommended time based on whether corn is fresh or frozen.
  5. Remove with tongs and serve immediately with butter and salt.

Tip: Don’t overcook – corn is best when still slightly crisp. The kernels should be tender but not mushy.
